Europe Trip

Rosemere High School’s secondary four and five students will take a trip with their teachers and mentors to Italy and Greece for nine days. The voyage begins on March 2nd, 2011, and it ends on March 11th. The seniors will be travelling with EF Tours, a tourism company that specializes in educational trips around the world for students and teachers. The purpose of this trip is to enrich the students’ understanding about the world in which they live, experience different cultures, and visit both historical and natural sites that they have only read about in textbooks and seen pictures of at home.
Through a connecting flight to Zurich, the young travellers were supposed to land in Rome first, but complications arose and no flights to Italy were able to be booked. Instead, the seniors will spend three days in Greece, visiting remarkable sites such as the Acropolis in Athens.  After a ferry boat ride across the Ionian Sea, the students will arrive in Italy. They will spend their remaining seven days walking the streets of Rome, crossing over the thresholds of The Vatican churches, exploring the ruins of Pompeii, and tasting the bitter limoncello of Capri.
The seniors are very excited about their Europe Trip and have already set up a few successful fundraisers for their journey. A spaghetti dinner was held earlier on in the school year, Montreal Canadiens’ hockey tickets were raffled off, and now Tupperware sales have begun.
